I am a multi-award winning communications professional who has delivered a range of impactful internal and external strategic communications campaigns for the public and private sectors.

Beginning my career in financial services communications before joining companies in the rail, aviation and education sectors, I have a strong record of achievement in senior roles with responsibility for media relations, internal communications, crisis management and public affairs.

As BAA’s first on-call press responder during the 2007 terror attack on Glasgow Airport, I have a unique practical crisis communications experience, having successfully delivered the airport’s internal and external communications from the crisis room on the day of the attack.

As Glasgow Caledonian University’s Head of Communications and Public Affairs,I am credited with refreshing the university’s communications offering to deliver a significant and sustained increase in positive profile at home and internationally during a challenging time for the sector. In 2011, I led the successful strategic communications campaign to support the swift reinstatement of the university’s licence to recruit international students following its suspension by the UK Border Agency.

A CIPR trainer and invited speaker on crisis communications, stakeholder engagement, PR and internal communications for the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, the Council for Advancement of Higher Education and the Institute of Internal Communications (Scotland), I am also a CIPR accredited practitioner and Fellow. My work has been recognised with awards from the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, the Institute of Internal Communications, HEIST, and the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

I am also a Director at Catalyst Communications which is my own crisis communications consultancy. I am based in Glasgow but work throughout the United Kingdom.
