Organisational Resilience

The trend for resilience is being driven by a number of converging issues:

  1. speed of technology advancement;
  2. the increase cost of downtime;
  3. evolution of instant (social) media.

These three things mean that organisations can face potentially corporate reputation damaging incidents, without having time to respond or mitigate. PlanB consulting offers a Media Incident Training Simulator (M.I.T.S) which simulates media response to an incident, this can be used as a focused exercise or as part of a bigger exercise. Organisational resilience is all about ensuring that your organisation will survive disasters or ensuring that they don’t happen in the first place. Secondly, it is about ensuring that if a disaster affects the organisation then it will recover more quickly than perhaps its neighbours or its competitors. It is about ensuring that organisations are ‘tough’. The tough organisation will survive better than others!

Business Continuity, Crisis Management and Disaster Recovery can all help organisations to become tough and therefore more resilient.
