I work with a range of clients in the public and private sectors, focussing on the delivery of Incident & Crisis Management training and consultancy, but also regularly assisting with the design and implementation of Business Continuity arrangements. I enjoy working with our clients to develop solutions that are rooted in best practice, but also tailored to the specific needs of each business. Recent projects include the development and delivery of a suite of bespoke Incident Management Training courses to a multinational telecommunications company; Business Continuity & Incident Management training for a major logistics firm; and table-top and simulated exercises for a range of companies spanning several industries, from Financial Services to Utilities.
Prior to joining PlanB, I managed a 24/7/365 Incident Management Centre in Aberdeen, which provides Incident Management & Business Continuity services to clients in the Oil & Gas, marine and aviation sectors. This role included overseeing the provision of all response services to clients worldwide as well as ensuring the recruitment, training and competency of over 60 response personnel. I regularly fulfilled a range of functions within client Incident Management Teams in both exercises and live incidents; these included dealing with the response to serious injuries and deaths offshore, liaising with families, emergency services, regulators and other key stakeholders.
Additionally, a previous consultancy position in the Oil & Gas industry provided me with a good theoretical grounding in Business Continuity. I have delivered consultancy, training courses and exercises to clients across the UK, in the USA, Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands and the Falkland Islands. This broad experience has enhanced my skills identifying and analysing the impact specific risks may have on organisations, from small service companies to multinational Oil & Gas operators, then working with them to develop coherent and comprehensive strategies and programmes to meet their needs.
Before moving in to the world of Business Continuity, I studied for an MA in Politics at the University of Glasgow, which was followed by work experience at a charity lobbying on contemporary issues at the Scottish Parliament.
