Ewan Donald

Principal Consultant

MA (Hons), MBCI

Ewan Donald is our Principal Consultant, ensuring that our team delivers only the highest standard of Business Continuity and Crisis Management consultancy. He achieves this by developing robust procedures within our ISO9001:2015 Quality Management System, which he helped implement within PlanB Consulting, as well as training consultants in industry best practice. Ewan is also an accredited Instructor for the Business Continuity Institute, developing and delivering training courses worldwide.

While his extensive experience in live Incident Response and Crisis Management makes him the go-to guy for advice on reacting to a major disruption, his Business Continuity portfolio is exceptionally diverse, covering a broad range of projects: the development and delivery of full lifecycle Business Continuity within a multinational organisation, Business Continuity & Incident Management training for a FTSE100 logistics firm, and full ISO 22301 and 27001 implementation and certification for a fintech company in UAE to name but a few.

Prior to joining PlanB, Ewan worked for a multinational security and response company in multiple roles, including Response Manager and Crisis and Continuity Advisor. He managed a 24/7/365 Incident Management Centre in Aberdeen, which provides Incident Management & Business Continuity services to clients in the Oil & Gas, marine and aviation sectors. In addition to helping to coordinate and respond to live incidents and simulated exercises involving serious injuries and deaths offshore for clients worldwide, his role included overseeing the recruitment, training and competency of over 60 response personnel. Ewan also delivered consultancy, training courses and exercises to clients across the UK, USA, Norway, Denmark, Netherlands and Falkland Islands over his four years with the firm.

Before moving into the world of Business Continuity and Crisis Management, Ewan studied for an MA (Hons) in Politics at the University of Glasgow, which was followed by work experience at a charity lobbying on contemporary issues at the Scottish Parliament.

Out of work, Ewan enjoys playing football and is a long-suffering supporter of Dunfermline Athletic FC. He's also incredibly passionate about music and can be often found at gigs - either in the crowd, or on stage as the lead singer for the rock band Watchfires.
