Sarah is a Consultant at PlanB Consulting, where she manages a range of projects within the private and public sectors, including the regular delivery of Crisis Management training and exercises.
Sarah has a particular interest in the role of technology in risk and incident management, assisting in the development and delivery of a range of specialist exercises with Information and IT Security implications. Indeed, she recently acted as Simulation Cell Coordinator for a cyber-attack exercise for Scottish Enterprise, Scotland’s main economic development agency.
Prior to joining Plan B Consulting, Sarah was a Global Security Consultant within the European Headquarters of Apple. In this role, Sarah was responsible for analysing global events and confidential intelligence briefings, and researching safety concerns to ensure employee safety. Findings were routinely delivered to senior-level audiences at briefings to raise awareness of identified issues and ensure swift and effective action was taken.
Sarah was also assigned as the project lead on developing crisis management education training for all employees across the world. This allowed her to interact with a variety of senior audiences across the security sector; she was directly managed and mentored by the previous Global Head of Intelligence, Investigations and Physical Security at the Royal Bank of Scotland. Sarah’s recommendations regarding crisis management training were accepted by the Apple Headquarters in California and have subsequently been rolled out globally.
Sarah has an academic background: following a BA at the University of Durham, she won the Isaac Newton/Murray Edwards scholarship, allowing her to pursue an MPhil in Criminology at the Institute of Criminology, University of Cambridge. Her academic research was centred around investigating technology in prisons; exploring risk assessment, security protocols and the relationship to Information Communications Technologies. This research was approved by The National Offender Management Service (NOMS), an executive agency of the Ministry of Justice.
