PlanB Annual Charity 6-a-side Cricket Tournament

Posted on 25 September
The PlanB Consulting annual charity cricket event took place on the 19th June and, as usual, it was a great day. The sun stayed out the whole day and by the end of it, most attendees were sporting sunburn in varying degrees of severity. Five enthusiastic teams took part this year, all playing to raise money for Project Trust, Down's Syndrome Scotland and Yorkhill Children's Hospice. The competing teams were PlanB Consulting, The Totalize Tossers, The Birkmyre Bears, Clan Murphy and Project Trust (to which other teams donated players ...). As per the previous two years the Birkmyre Bears emerged the victors, although in the final, Clan Murphy put up a fantastic fight and gave spectators an exciting final to watch. As well as the winning team claiming a keg of beer and miniature cricket bat, prizes were also awarded for various aspects outwith the cricket with PlanB winning the best hatted team and Clan Murphy accepting the prize for the best mascot: Paddy the Dog.

Although cricket was the main event, there were various stalls and activities to keep bystanders and resting players entertained while the BBQ kept everyone well fed. The bouncy castle and various races kept the children entertained and there was a nail bar and face painting stall for both children and adults alike! The tombola did well, thanks to the many people who donated bottles and to those who bought tickets. The barrel of beer seemed to be the desired prize for most but which was, of course, the very last item to be won.

PlanB would like to thank everyone who came along to support the event and who donated to the charities, tombola prizes or their time. It was much appreciated. The money raised from this event will be split three ways between Project Trust, Down's Syndrome Scotland and Yorkhill Children's Hospice.
